We Americans consume food like predators. We move through the world with our mouths open and ready to eat. We seldom consider the cuisine and how it got onto our plate.
When we consume a meal we should consider all the steps it took to prepare the cuisine on the plate. By the time the cuisine is served, many steps had to go just right.
When we don’t think about what we are eating, we become a predator that is always consuming, and is seldom satisfied. In this way, the flavors and pleasure of enjoying great cuisine are lost to eating food for mere survival.
When we think about all these steps we don’t have to consume as much. We can be more satisfied and fulfilled.
